The e-Core technology is the result of more than 10 years of research with pore scale modelling and
the availability of today's high performance computers.
The technology can be described as an
electronic core laboratory for modelling petrophysical properties and
simulating fluid flow in the pore scale of reservoir rocks. The e-Core
technology simulates the natural processes of sedimentary rock
formation; i.e. sedimentation, compaction and diagenesis. The input
data to the rock modelling is high resolution thin section images or 3D images. From this input, numerical rock models are generated and used for the calculation of
petrophysical parameters (e.g. permeability and formation factor) and
simulation of multiphase flow properties to obtain capillary pressure
curves and relative permeability.
Numerical Rocks AS has made this technology available to the oil industry in the form of technical
services and as the software tool, e-Core.
